For the Passat's eighth generation, Volkswagen boosted power production even further across all of the offered engine options. The 1.8L turbo, 16-valve four-cylinder engine produces 170 horsepower and 185 lb-ft of torque while retaining its beloved drivability characteristics. The equally fun and civilized V6 power plant reaches a magnificent 280 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque at around the same 6000 RPM mark. The six-speed automatic direct-shift gearbox allows drivers to remain in control without having to micromanage the vehicle's power production through every gear.
